Today being Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, it seems fitting to note a comment by Howard on the MaggiDawn blog (scroll down in the comments to Jan. 6, 11:03 a.m.):
I often wonder if Pentecostals name themselves after Pentecost then we Anglicans should rebrand ourselves after the liturgical season that most suits our world view, but being called Lentils sounds ridiculous.
Howard may be on to something about Lent best suiting our world view. Lent is when we’re supposed to do what the business world calls "gap analysis." In a nutshell, gap analysis is a calm, sober assessment of:
-
where we are,
-
where we want to be, and
-
what’s a realistic plan to try to get there.
Given that we’re all members of a workforce of "created co-creators," laboring to help build something unimaginably wonderful, this kind of annual pause for assessment is a welcome thing.
