Preservers versus pathfinders

In response to a satiric posting at Mark Harris’s PRELUDIUM blog, commenter Richard Nolan offers two insightful, non-pejorative names for the two sides in the church’s The Current Disputes (bold-faced emphasis is mine):

However, I’ve found that “preservers” and “pioneers” (or “pathfinders” etc.) are quite useful terms that fit church, political, and most other groupings. Each of the two has its own “schools of thought” and levels of intensity.

Kendall Harmon’s intentions were laudable in coining “reasserters” and “reappraisers,” but those two names look and sound too much alike and are easy to confuse.
