From commenter "NoVAScout" in a discussion at TitusOneNine:
My hope and belief is that those choices [by the church of which writings to include in the scriptural canon] were guided by divine influence.
My opinions or beliefs cannot bind the future actions of God, so I have no view on what He will do to speak to us in the future.
If He speaks to us, I will try to be in a position to listen.
I cannot imagine that any Christian would take an adamantine position that God has nothing more to say to us. That seems tantamount to sacrilege.
Very well said. (Extra paragraphing added.)
