Brad Drell, a leading traditionalist blogger, mourns the election of the Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori as 26th Presiding Bishop:
Frankly, I am shocked and just at a loss of what to say, other than it will be a very long day tomorrow.
What I guess was the worst about all this was the crowd – cheering. I moved to close debate after the upteenth testimony in favor of our new Presiding Bishop elect and was ruled out of order. I was just stunned. I have to admit that there is tremendous joy on the part of the vast majority of Episcopalians at General Convention. …
Please pray for me tonight that I will lose this hopeless feeling in my heart regarding tomorrow. But, in all honesty, I feel so differently from so many people here. It is harder and harder to see how the Episcopal Church reflects any of my values, my feelings about God and Jesus Christ, or my ministry priorities.
