Echo of Genesis – WSJ.com

John Mather and George Smoot just won the Nobel Prize in Physics for their work in studying the cosmic microwave background radiation, left over from the stupendous release of energy at the beginning of the universe.  In today’s Wall Street Journal, physics professor Michio Kaku reminds us:  "this echo from the Big Bang makes up a significant fraction of the static you hear on the radio. You literally pick up signals from Genesis itself every time you spin the radio dial.  And if we somehow had eyes that could see microwave radiation, we would see this radiation come out every night, filling the night sky with a soft, faint glow."  (Emphasis added.)
